What to know about Tropic
The standout: zero-deductible CDW for $15/day. Scrape the car and pay nothing out of pocket. Three-day minimum rental (no single-day hires). Age 25+ required. Debit cards only accepted with CDW purchase.
Best for: travelers who want complete insurance peace of mind on multi-day rentals. Not for: single-day Arikok trips or renters under 25.
The zero-deductible advantage explained
Most Aruba agencies include a $500-1,000 deductible even with CDW. That means if you scrape a bumper or crack a mirror, you're paying out of pocket up to that amount. Tropic's policy eliminates this.
At $15/day, this adds $105 to a week-long rental. Worth it if you're nervous about Aruba's narrow streets or tight parking lots. Especially valuable for first-time island drivers.
This is real coverage, not marketing. Damage to the vehicle, including bumpers, mirrors, and minor bodywork, is handled by Tropic. Confirm what's included (tires, windshield, undercarriage) when you book.
The rules you need to know
Three-day minimum: no exceptions. If you only need a car for one day to visit Arikok, look elsewhere.
Age 25+: stricter than most agencies (23 is typical, some allow 21). Bring your license held for at least one year.
Credit cards work normally. Debit cards require CDW purchase. This protects Tropic from no-coverage renters skipping out on damage.
Pickup and return logistics
Hotel delivery with a full tank. Return full or pay the difference. They'll pick up from your hotel on return, saving you the drive back.
Office is on Avenida Milo Croes in Oranjestad. Sunday hours are limited (9am-1pm), so plan your pickup/return around that if needed.
Not the flashiest operation, but straightforward policies and genuine zero-deductible coverage make them worth considering for longer rentals.
