What to know about Boric

More than twenty years serving the Caribbean and a fleet of over 150 vehicles. The main office is at F.D. Rooseveltweg 282, three to four minutes from Curacao International Airport. Phone +5999 843 8228.

Boric publishes more of its rules than most agencies here: deposit amounts, insurance prices, the fuel policy, extras and opening hours per location are all on the FAQ page.

Best for: renters who want the fine print settled before arrival, and anyone who needs a car for a single day. Not for: drivers under 23.

Deposit, insurance and fuel

The standard deposit is $500. It rises to $572 for drivers aged 23 to 25 and to $1,000 if you decline their insurance and rely on your credit card cover instead. Deposits can be paid in cash or held on a card, and card holds are released by your bank within 7 to 14 business days.

Third-party liability is included in every rate. CDW caps your liability at the $500 deposit. DDW extends that so the deposit stays intact even if you caused the accident. Full Insurance Coverage costs $25 a day for regular vehicles and $27 for minivans.

Fuel is full to full. If the tank comes back short you pay at least $28 for each quarter tank or part of one.

The fleet and prices

Six classes: Economy, Compact, Intermediate, Intermediate SUV, Minivan and Fullsize Van Automatic. The economy class is a Chevrolet Spark or similar.

In our checks, a 7-day economy rental in early November came to $240. Compact was $299, Intermediate $360, Intermediate SUV $560, Minivan $700 and the Fullsize Van $770.

Extras are priced individually: $5 a day for an additional driver, $3 a day for a child seat or booster, $8 a day for GPS.

The airport shuttle and hours

From arrivals: leave customs, turn right, walk past the car rental area, continue about thirty feet, cross the road to the shuttle platform. Their agent picks you up there. The shuttle is free.

The airport shuttle area and the main office both run 8am to 9pm. The cruise terminals close at 7pm. If your flight leaves before 8am, tell them at pickup and they will give you return instructions.

Cancellation is free, though they ask for 24 hours notice. They accept cash, Maestro and major credit cards. Their reservations run on HQ Rentals, the system our comparison reads, so the totals match theirs.
