What to know about D&D

Office on Franklin D. Rooseveltweg in Willemstad, registered with the Curacao Chamber of Commerce under 148822. Phone and WhatsApp +5999 521 83 25 and +5999 688 24 97.

The headline policy is insurance with zero excess. Every car comes with collision damage waiver, theft and liability cover at a 0 deductible. Most Curacao agencies leave $300 to $500 on your card instead.

Best for: renters who want damage cover settled before they arrive, and anyone staying five nights or more. Not for: short stays. The minimum rental is five days.

Pricing, fees and insurance

Published daily rates run from $50 for economy to $110 for a Jeep Wrangler, with a mid-size at $55, a small SUV at $65, a standard SUV at $72, a pickup at $80 and a 7-seat minivan at $85.

In our checks a 7-day economy rental in early November came to $321. The same week the mid-size was $353, the standard SUV $462, the minivan and pickup $546 each and the Jeep $739.

One cost to plan for: a one-time $20 airport fee on rentals that start at Hato. Delivery anywhere else on the island is free, with Westpunt the exception. Mileage is unlimited and additional drivers cost nothing.

The fleet

Eight classes in our comparison: Economy, Mid-Size, Standard Size, Small SUV, Standard SUV, Minivan, Pickup and Jeep. The site sums it up as everything from small cars to a large SUV.

The Jeep Wrangler is the only convertible-style vehicle here and the most expensive line. Baby seats are free, which matters if you are travelling with small children and want to avoid the usual $3 to $5 per day.

Pickup and contact

Two pickup points in their system: their office at Curacao International Airport and their main office. Delivery elsewhere is arranged directly.

Contact is by phone, WhatsApp or info@ddcarrental.com. What the site does not publish is the minimum age, the deposit and the license rules, so ask before you book.

Their reservations run on HQ Rentals. Our comparison reads that same system, so a car listed here is bookable there at the same total.
